UPDATE: Now you can follow the easy way to enable custom theme effects of Nokia N8 with Belle 111.030.0607 without Flashing or modifying the Core file. Follow the easy tutorial here.
This tutorial has been created exclusively for Nokia N8 with Symbian Belle v111.030.0607, however you can use it for other Symbian^4 – Belle devices including, C7, C6-01, E7, X7, 500, 701, 700, 603

Download these super cool effects from here and follow this guide to apply them.
Note: This tutorial is purely for educational purposes, try it at your own risk as it involves editing of  firmware CORE file therefore we won’t be held responsible for the any damages caused to your device by following this guide.

1. Download NokiaCooker_2.4.zip from here.
(Make sure your are going to modify the core.fpsx file of Symbian Belle v111.030.0607)

2. Copy RM-596_111.030.0607_79u_prd.core.fpsx inside Nokia Cooker’s folder.

3. Run Nokia Cooker

4. Click on open firmware and double click RM-596_111.030.0607_79u_prd.core.fpsx

5. Wait for a while so that the core file gets loaded into Nokia Cooker.

Video Tutorial Core Calibration (Step 6 – 10)

After successful loading of core file click on Unlock ROFS to calibrate the core file.

7. You’ll note ROFS1: 2B, ROFS2: 2B, ROFS3: 2B

8. Rename them to ROFS1: 2C, ROFS2: 2C, ROFS3: 2C

9. Now click on Extend ROFS1

10. A message would be displayed saying ROFS1 has been extended, click OK.

Video Tutorial – Editing Core to Modify Manifest.mf – (Step 11 – 16)

11. Navigate to resource/effects folders from the tree menu and locate manifest.mf and double click to open it in a text editor.

12. You’ll notice the Z:\resource\effects\ as shown below.

13. Rename the Z:\resource\effects\ to C:\data\effects\ as shown below, and save the manifest.mf file. (Its not necessary to rename to C:\data\effects\ you can give any path for instance E:\effects, C:\n8fanclub\effects, if you’ll be choosing the path at your own, you’ll have to adjust the steps accordingly.)

14. Now Hit the Save firmware button as shown below.

15. It will take a while to save the firmware.

16. You’ll be able to see the status message Image rebuilded successfully.

17. Now open the folder where you had copied core.fpsx file in step 3 earlier. Here you’ll note two core files, skip core_backup_.fpsx file and copy the other modified core without BACKUP name, and replace it with the original one, inside C:/Program Files/Nokia/Phoenix/Products/RM-596/

18. Flash the firmware to your device in usual way with Phoenix. Now you can copy any theme effects  to C:/data/effects via X-plore or any other file browser.

19. Open Settings => Themes => General => Options => Theme Effects => On/Off. If they are already enabled turn them OFF and then back ON. Enjoy super awesome effects on your Symbian Belle device!!
